Chinese For Dummies

So besides settling in and obtaining our residence permits and my work permit one of the things that Intel pays for each expat family is a sort of introductory course to Chinese culture. A sort of do's & don'ts for foreigners so we don't become the "dumb" Americans that could potentially be on CNN...lol...

Part of the course centered around Dalian history and culture or what the locals call DongBei AKA NorthEastern because Dalian is located in the NorthEast Province of Liaoling. Overall it was actually a pretty informative & interesting class, especially when the instructor starting rambling on about how Dalian people aren't really DongBei Ren (NorthEastern People) and that DongBei Ren were very special and different from poeple from Dalian and from other provinves......Huh?.......I was thinking to myself first, everyone thinks they are special, just ask people from New York if they think they're speical. ;) And two, isn't Dalian located in the NorthEast?....Lol...Oh well, still a good class though... :)
